Airbrush Gun

You should have your air compressor and airbrush with you, now you need to plug that compressor in and see how it runs. You need a smooth running compressor to get a good supply of air to the airbrush.

Check to make sure the air is flowing through smoothly, by pressing the throttle. You can either use some paper or your hand. If there are any clogs, or the air isn’t going through smoothly, check to see what is going on.

Your bottles of paint will need to be shook up, that will get rid of air bubbles that may be in them. Place your paint in your airbrush and test the spray. Do this on a piece of paper that you don’t need.

Now press that throttle gently, use circular motions in a slow pattern. Apply only a thin coat and add as you continue. Try to get into a rhythm of use don’t jump around while your painting or stop moving. You will get clumps of paint in one area if you stop, which will ruin the item your trying to make look nice.

Always clean the airbrush once your done using it. This can be done by using 20% ammonia and mixing it with water. Run that mixture through your gun until it’s clean. Don’t forget to clean off the other parts of your airbrush.

Without proper maintenance and cleaning your airbrush will not last as long as it should. That’s why it’s very important to clean the gun after each and every use. No matter how pressed for time you may be.

The hose that you use to hook up the airbrush gun to the compressor should be rolled up and placed out of the way. Even a tiny pin prick hole in these hoses will take a lot of the air pressure away, which will cause problems with your work.

Practice as much as you can with those slow circular motions and you can find that using the airbrush isn’t that hard. Once you’ve gotten it down you can move on to the bigger projects and really impress people.
